Schumann looks forward to Tries X: “Triathlon, sun and sea: in Sardinia, I feel home”

The 39-year-old German will take in Sardegna Tries X (Sunday, October 31st), whilst his wife Mignon Vatlach will attend the Trail event on November 1st

“Going to Sardinia is like coming back home, in a sunnier and warmer house”. German Felix Schumann, 39, can’t wait to land in Golfo Aranci (Italy) to take in the Sardegna Tries X Triathlon Cross Country event, to be held on Sunday, October 31st

Orthopedic surgeon in Neckarsulm, northern Baden-Württemberg, the triathlete from Bad Wimpfen is looking forward to adding new memories from Sardinia after three unforgettable past experiences. “I have competed once in Olbia and twice in Villacidro and I can spend only beautiful words about the time I spent there: I got to know the people really close and everyone was more friendly for all the week, everyone wanted to introduce me to parents, sisters, brothers and relatives”, Schumann explains.

Twice Triathlon Cross Country National champion, dad of two kids, Felix divides himself between triathlon and professional commitments with excellent results. “I actually train for ten-twelve hours per week. For me triathlon is the excitement of standing at the starting line, the wait for the race start, it’s fighting. I love this fighting”, Schumann says.

Not only fighting: triathlon events are opportunities to meet old friends – like French Nicolas Lebrun and Belgian Jim Thijs – and discover new wonderful locations like Golfo Aranci: “I’ve never been in North-East Sardinia, this is a really new place for me. I checked out the videos, beaches and sea are looking really great. What are my expectations? A good race kissed by sun, summer and sea”. Beyond Lebrun, his countryman Jullien Buffe e Morgane Riou recently registered for the race, as well as Swiss Xavier Dafflon.

On the occasion, Schumann will travel together with the family in full force: there couldn’t have been a better place for combining sporting passion and vacation with loved ones. Moreover, his wife Mignon Vatlach will be taking in the Sardegna Tries X Trail Running event on Monday, November 1st“We’ll arrive in Golfo Aranci in the late evening of the race’s eve, but I asked some friends to send me some videos from the course to study it in order to be ready for the event”.

Organized by Sardegna X Sports with the contribution of Sardinia Region’s Tourism Department and Golfo Aranci’s Municipality, Sardinia’s three-day event will be opened by the Aquathlon Sardinia Championships (Saturday, October 30th) and rounded-out by the Trail competition (Monday, November 1st).
